Victoria Thurlow, Secretary
Victoria Thurlow is principal of Thurlow/Associates, a firm specializing in strategic fund development and constituency relations for nonprofit agencies. She has provided development counsel, planning and grant-writing services to agencies including Para Los Ni–os, Huntington Hospital, Junior Blind of America, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Los Angeles Unified School District, Sunny Hills Services, Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center, Zero to Three and Covenant House California, among others. Her firm has provided counsel to numerous organizations engaged in annual and capital campaigns, and has assisted internal staff and board members in implementing both direct-mail campaigns and special events.
In the area of constituency relations, Ms. Thurlow has directed a variety of campaigns, and has experience in campaign planning, newsletter and annual report production, constituency relations, public service announcements and media relations. In this regard, she has assisted such clients as Methodist Hospital of Southern California, South Bay Family Healthcare Center, Don Bosco Technical Institute, Huntington Hospital, Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center, the Center for Educational Achievement and others.
Before opening her firm, Ms. Thurlow served as director of development and marketing for The Greater Los Angeles Partnership for the Homeless. Prior to that, she was director of fund development and public relations for Assistance League of Southern California. In both positions, Ms. Thurlow oversaw all aspects of development research, planning, fund solicitation and recognition, as well as marketing and public relations.
Ms. Thurlow has a master's degree in English from The University of Texas at Austin. An award-winning writer, she has taught English composition at both The University of Texas and at California State University, Northridge. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a former president of the International Association of Business Communicators/Los Angeles and a former director of the Greater Los Angeles Press Club. She is also a member of MENSA, the international high-IQ society.
